Les Billards Bréton were established in Saint Germain en laye, nearby Paris, in 1852
At that time main clients were hotels, restaurants and pubs which rented Carom billiard tables for their customers.
In 1947 Roger Marteau and André Bréton went into partnership to strengthen the development of the company which was then experiencing strong growth. A few years later Roger Marteau took over the control of the company with the help of his son Bernard Marteau
In 1976 a new manufacturing facility was built in Orgeval (Yvelines) under the momentum of Jean Claude Marteau (son of Bernard). This new plant allowed the company to increase its market share in large playing rooms and academies whose number increased at a fast pace during 80’s and 90’s. At that time les Billards Bréton bought out Parisian manufacturer Carrier Laumé.
Many large playing rooms were created then, notably :
- L'Académie, Lille : 52 tables
- L'académie Beaugrenelle (Paris, XVème) : 31 tables
- L'Etoile Foch (Paris, XVIème) : 10 tables
- Le New Billard (Kremlin Bicêtre) : 33 tables
- Le Shoot Again (Champigny and Paris) : 24 et 18 tables
- …
The company has also reinforced its technical know-how during this period by participating to prestigious national and international championships such as :
- French 14/1 American Championship at Casino de Paris (1991)
- World Artistic Championship at Epernay (1992)
- Super Mondial, artistic game at Dammarie Les Lys (1993, 1995)
- World Three Cushions Championship at Rezé (1998)
- Junior European Championship Cadre 47/2 at Rue (2001)
- European Artistic Championship at Challans (2003)
- French Three Cushions National Championship at Gravelines (2004, French record beaten)
- UMB Three Cushions World Championships in St Wendel, Germany (2006)
- …
The model “2001” is undoubtedly the showcase of this technical mastery : since its creation, all post records have been shattered.
Along these years billiards tables have become more afordable for private customers which now account for the large majority of Billards Bréton’s clients. By joining the company in the early 90’s, Catherine (daughter of Bernard Marteau) helped reinforcing the image of the brand on this market. The arrival of Benoit (great grandson of Roger Marteau) in 2004 is a way to preserve the family values and spirit driving the company since its creation.
Today Billards Bréton remain a top-hand partner for large playing rooms and academies in France. This historical, commercial and sports success is today a testimony of our professionalism to all our private customers.
