The creation of Billards Breton
Since their creation in 1852 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Billards Bréton have specialized in the manufacture of billiard tables as well as in all services related to their maintenance and restoration. .
Founded by Alexandre Bréton, the company originally rented pool tables in restaurants, cafes and hotels in Île-de-France.
In 1947, the company was bought by Roger Marteau who intensified the presence of the brand in many public establishments, French billiards revealing at that time one of the main leisure activities practiced by as many people as possible.
Four generations of the Marteau family followed one another, adapting the company’s offer to changes in the market.
It all started in 1976, when the company set up its manufacturing workshop in Orgeval, in the Yvelines, a few kilometers from its original workshop.
This new site can It was time to develop the production capacities of Billards Bréton, particularly with clubs and commercial halls, the number of which increased rapidly during the 80s and 90s.
At that time, Billards Bréton also bought the Parisian house Carrier-Laumé. A symbol of the company’s commitment to the world of leisure and competition, many clubs and commercial halls have been equipped by Billards Bréton throughout its history, including:
- The Academy (Lille): 52 tables;

The changing billiard table market
From 1990, the billiard table market changed profoundly, with individuals becoming the company’s main customers.
Under the effect of the development of leisure, home ownership and the creation of more modern models that fit into all interiors, billiards are rapidly becoming more democratic and many individuals wish to install a billiard table at home, especially since these can be transformed into a dining room table or a desk. Since that date, it is the concern for the personalization of the models that takes precedence in order to offer each customer a unique model, made to order.
The company does not forget its roots and remains the French brand having participated in the greatest number of prestigious national and international competitions, including:
- The Rezé 3 cushion World Championship (1998);
- The Challans Artistic Billiards European Championship (2003);

This distinction offers new creative opportunities by collaborating with interior designers for the creation of exceptional models such as the Django or the prototype of the “Maison V”.
Symbol of technical and commercial success, the model Aero, initially intended for a clientele of individuals, has seen its design evolve in order to become the company’s new benchmark for competitors in France and abroad.
